First Impressions

Denver continues to prove that it has a lot to offer the world of specialty coffee. Great roasters and cafes continue building out across the city, and many of them are doing really creative, exciting things. Amethyst is a great example. It’s delicate, beautiful space has a picturesque quality that seems to suggest that it hides all kinds of secret wonders. It’s bright, airy and effortless, offering it’s guests an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Light wood detailing and a fully stocked bar, dotted with trinkets and crystals make the already warm space feel inviting and open.

Amethyst features Commonwealth Coffee Roasters consistently, and brings in other roasters on a rotating basis every few months. While they serve coffee all day, Amethyst begins serving cocktails in the late afternoon, the bar-flow changing from counter service to table service. Their menu is really inventive; the coffee is excellent, but also worth exploring is their listing of tea and liquor concoctions. They seem to approach all their drinks with the same passion that they put into their coffee, which is really exciting to me. You definitely don’t want to miss the chance to waste an afternoon away, holed up deep in conversation with friends at this shop. As the afternoon turns to evening, let their staff pick out the night's drinks. You won’t be disappointed.
